Catarina was happy to finally be a part of something. She had been kind of lonely with only her cats to keep her company in Brindleton Bay. She was so excited to experience something out ot the ordinary. When she moved in with Vinjo, she quit her job at a local catering business to fully concentrate on the orphanage project. They agreed that she should focus on the housekeeping and start planting a garden. Their goal was to have the orphanage be self-sufficient one day. Catarina had no experience in gardening but couldn't wait to get her hands dirty.
Also, someone had to take care of the cats. Of course, Catarina was sad about Doc's passing, but she had seen it coming since he had been very old already. She kept his ashes on her drawer and liked to read to him sometimes like she used to when he was lying on her lap.
