1.7 Adjusting to the new life

Catarina wasn't even mad about Daniel's marriage breaking up. She liked him quite a lot, actually. She loved how they would sit in the open air refectory for breakfast together and just talk about the upcoming day. As Catarina and Daniel both quit their jobs and Viljo mostly worked nights at the restaurant, the days were spent working on the construction and in the garden.

Daniel stayed on friendly terms with his family, especially his kids, though. Soon after the separation, his daughter Brigitte turned 18 and invited him to the party. It was a bit awkward but everyone tried their best to act like a normal family. Annika had even invited the Landgraabs, a couple from their posh circle of friends, to the party.

The next family event Daniel wouldn't have missed for the world was his daughter Brigitte's wedding to her longterm girlfriend Saskia Meier. Daniel and Annika had always been cool about their daughter's sexuality. The Landgraabs not so much, so they weren't invited to the ceremony. Brigitte moved in with her wife and the inlaws and David went over to visit often. Especially because Gina, her mother in law, was pretty hot.

It had never occured to Daniel that Annika, his ex-wife might also turn to other guys after the break-up. When Brigitte told him her Mom had something going on with Hendrick, a coworker of hers, he was mad. But Catarina made him see that Annika had just the same rights to a happy life he had.
